In my Landscape Studies Studio class in my senior year of college, we were assigned the task of analyzing an underutilized space and proposing a change.
This steep, brambly slope by the shores of Paradise Pond had problems with litter; I proposed cutting little platforms into it, guarded by retaining walls, to create some cozy nooks and to open up the space to easier litter retrieval.
I recall these platforms being drawn on a rushed student’s schedule. If redone today, they would benefit from additional slip-proofing and drainage features, including railings and slatted benches.
This map, meanwhile, is a more stylized approach to a real space, emphasising landmarks and mood. Also from 2018, it’s about due for an update!
